Greg Epstein Incoming
Greg Epstein, Humanist Chaplain at Harvard and author of Good Without God, will be speaking at Tulsa’s All Souls Unitarian Church on Thursday, December 10, 2009. It is free to the public and details can be found at tulsa.unitedcor.org.
I have not read Epstein’s book, but I certainly agree with the premise. Will be interesting to hear what he has to say, especially in light of a recent scathing criticism from lovable “New Atheist” P.Z. Myers.
PFt will likely have a small group in attendance, so if anyone wants to grab some joe (or caramels for Mr. VanHorn) and chat afterward comment below or shoot me an email at clint(at)projectfreethought(dot)org.

Humanist chaplain?
This is the second time I’ve observed the opinion of the Federal Gov that atheism is a religion. The other was when the Supreme Court declared it so in a case involving an inmate demanding to be allowed to hold atheist study.

Personally, I don’t think it meets any appropriate standards to be called a “religion”, but it is certainly a preference regarding religion and/or spiritualism.
Humanism isn’t a religion, though, and can be easily subscribed to by a devout religious person.
